On EB-1A standards
Here’s a post by immigration lawyer Amber Davis on EB-1A standards:
EB-1A’s extraordinary standard does not require that you be in the top 1% of the broader field to which you belong.
You can be in the top 1% of a niche field and still be able to prove extraordinary ability.
There are also less traditional but still recognized positions that can be used to prove extraordinary ability.
For example, you could be a board member at a prestigious research-focused organization in your field and be a sought after expert in this position because of your expertise in your field.
With some creativity and enough effort, a lot of you can show extraordinary ability. In fact, I’d say a lot of you out there who are at top companies already have somewhat of a foundation to build a profile.
You just need to put in the work and also be open to different ways to show that you are at the top of your field (that isn’t being a Nobel prize winner or the CEO of a nationally recognized company).
Yes, EB-1A standards are high but for a lot of you out there, they’re not impossible to reach.
