Is PERM still the best way to get a green card?

Companies experiencing layoffs have started to put their PERM programs on hold.

The PERM backlogs (pending PERM applications that the Department of Labor has yet to process) have also yet to be resolved.

Because of two existing conditions in immigration, you may be better off looking at alternatives to the labor certification path to a green card, such as NIW or EB-1A, especially if you’re considered “Rest of World.”

This becomes increasingly important for those of you who are only a few years away from your H-1B max-out date, as mentioned in a recent LinkedIn post by immigration lawyer Amber Davis.
