How USCIS looks at EB-1A applicants

Here’s a post by immigration lawyer Amber Davis on how USCIS looks at EB-1A applicants:

USCIS will compare you to other applicants in your field to see if you’ve really risen to the top of your field.

Everything you present as evidence will be used as a basis for comparison.

Typical evidence that USCIS tends to accept include:

- Being a C-suite executive at a top company in your field.
- Being a highly cited researcher who has done research to help shape your field.
- Being an independent board member of a top professional organization in your field.

It’s why profile-building for EB-1A can take years as rising to the top of your field and building enough acclaim and recognition to prove that you’ve risen to the top is not something that can usually be done quickly.

Expect to do a lot of activities that will not be used in your case but can still be useful in helping you meet other top professionals in your field who may eventually introduce you to opportunities that can be used as evidence for your case.
