On how to get started with EB-1A profile-building
Here’s a post by immigration lawyer Amber Davis on how to get started with EB-1A profile-building:
If you have not been professionally involved in your field outside of your work at your company, you’ll want to start doing activities outside of work to build a strong EB-1A profile.
Some ways to get started:
- Start volunteering at events hosted by organizations in your field.
- Speak at student clubs in your field about your work.
- Start speaking at meetups in your field about your work.
The activities mentioned above are usually readily accessible, especially if you have some practical experience, and are great ways to start getting noticed by other top professionals.
Through the people you’ll get to meet, you’ll start to get access to opportunities that are not publicly advertised and even eventually invited to ones typically reserved for top professionals in your field.
You’ll also have something to talk about when reaching out for more selective opportunities such as speaking at a top conference or joining a committee at a top organization in your field.
